There is an old joke amongst hypnotherapists, which tells you about the nature of hypnotherapy:
Q: How many hypnotherapists does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Only one, but the lightbulb must really want to change!
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural state which helps you to access and connect with your inner resources, and it is a powerful tool to create positive change within you.
Our behaviour comes from the conscious (the thinking part) and the unconscious (‘auto-pilot’) parts of our minds. The unconscious is always acting in your best interests, always protecting you (listening out for danger when you sleep).
Both parts of the mind must be respected in order to produce lasting change. Hypnotherapy helps to bring all parts together to help you achieve your potential.
What will hypnotic trance be like?
Hypnosis is not sleep. We all experience hypnotic trances every day. Every time you are absorbed in a book or film and become unaware of the passing of time, or of other sounds around you, you are in a trance. Every time you do something automatically, this is also trance.
You will be able to hear everything, and possibly remember all that is said to you. You will experience the most wonderful relaxation.
